I was at the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Lecture entitled, ‘Science Centres for empowering the Society – a non-formal approach to take science to all’, delivered by Mr. I. K. Mukhopadhyay, Former Director General of the National Council of Science Museums, India. It was a pleasure of having in our midst Mr. Ingit Kumar Mukhopadhyay, who has been associated with the setting up of the Centre since its very inception in 1998. Mr. I.K.Mukhopadhyay has more than 30 years’ experience in Science Centre/Museum as an exhibit designer. Moreover he has been involved with the setting up over 45 science centres and various planetaria all around India. I am sure therefore that we will have a very useful interaction with Mr. Mukhopadhyay during his stay. I wish to thank again Prof. I.K. Mukhopadhyay for his help in the growth of this centre over the years. My Ministry will spare no effort to continue to make this centre a beacon of scientific knowledge and dissemination.
