‘Opening of the ACCA Mauritius Career Fair 2012’

It was a great pleasure for me today to be associated with this initiative of the ACCA Mauritius Branch – the ACCA Mauritius Career Fair 2012, which is geared towards promoting the development of the Accountancy Profession and to facilitate recruitment.  More importantly it is meant to create an awareness on career opportunities in the Finance and Accounting sector and to provide a meeting platform between jobseekers in the Finance and Accounting sector and companies looking for skilled manpower. It is the objective of the Government to make of Mauritius a knowledge hub and I am proud to say today that with the clear objectives that my Ministry has set, already reknown institutions are knocking at our doors so as to establish themselves here and foreign students are already looking forward for an exclusive learning experience in Mauritius.  We want to attract 100,000 foreign students to Mauritius by 2020 and I am sure that professional bodies like ACCA Mauritius can in the near future develop into a centre of excellence for the region and  be a major player in the realisation of this objective. I congratulate the organizing team for this first event, which I wish, gets the expected success and meets the required objectives.  I also wish employers to access the right Finance and Accountancy talents for their organisation through the ACCA Careers channels.
