Dr Jeetah was elected Member of the National Assembly in December 2003 for the first time for Constituency No.7 (Piton/Rivière du Rempart), and remained so until April 2005. Dr Jeetah was re-elected as: • Member of the National Assembly for Constituency No.11 (Vieux Grand Port-Rose Belle), in 2005 and became Minister of Industry, Small and Medium Enterprises, Commerce & Cooperatives (2005 to 2008).He became Minister of Health & Quality of Life (2008 to 2010). • Member of the National Assembly for Constituency No.10 (Montagne Blanche- GRSE)in 2010 and became Minister of Tertiary Education, Science, Research and Technology till 2014.  I met with Mr. Nicolas Weiss, Dr.Pierre Tapie, PhD, Dean and President, and Mr. Philippe Pierre Dornier, Director, both from ESSEC Business School. Dr Pierre Tapie lectures and writes on the challenges and organisation of higher education, global responsibility and Business in Society.

‘International Knowledge Investment Forum 2012’



I proceeded to the launching of the ‘International Knowledge Investment Forum 2012’, in presence of Dr.  A. Kazim, Managing Director of Smartcity Dubai, UAE, held at the Intercontinental Resort, Balaclava. It is a one-day high profile conference focussing on the latest trends, developments and opportunities in Higher Education. The objective is to present the evolving landscape in higher education in the world and show how Mauritius is positioning itself as a knowledge hub.

I met with Mrs. U.Hurry, Director, Socrates School of Health Sciences and Dr. P. Drewe, Dean and Representative, Faculty of Health & Sport Science, Glamorgan University, United Kingdom. The aim of the visit was to discuss joint collaboration between the Glamorgan University and the Socrates School of Health Sciences to offer Diploma & Degree programmes in Sport Science, Sport Medicine and Research. All the programmes will be accredited by the Glamorgan University.
