Closing ceremony Workhop on “Equal Opportunities”

I congratulate the University of Technology, Employees’ Union for organizing this important workshop on the Employment Impact of the advent of the Equal Opportunities Act in Mauritius. The enactment of this legislation shows the seriousness of this Government in eliminating all forms of discrimination and giving equal chances to every citizen. The credit goes to the bold leadership and far sighted vision of the Prime Minister, Dr. Navin Ramgoolam. We should indeed be proud as Mauritians that such legislation exists in our law books and that the institutional structure has been set up without any delay to implement the legislation. This legislation is dedicated to the citizens of Mauritius, to the present and future generations. Congratulation to the UTM Employees’ Union for the laudable initiative to organize this workshop for the benefit of its members and all staff of the University !
