‘Signing Ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between My Ministry and The Mauritius Post Ltd’

It was a pleasure for me to be  together with my colleague the Minister of Information and Communication Technology to mark an event which is perhaps a first of its kind in Mauritius. We were at the Rajiv Gandhi Science Center to witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding between my Ministry and the Mauritius Post Ltd for the dissemination of information on Tertiary Education, and promote Science and Technology.I would like to thank the Chairperson and General Manager of Mauritius Post Ltd for this collaboration which will help both of us to reach out to the community and households to promote higher education and science and technology education. The main collaborating partner under this agreement will be the Rajiv Gandhi science Centre - which has been carrying out awareness programmes such as National Science Weeks, Caravane de la Science, Science Fun Days and Science Competitions. Science and technology are critically important for economic and social development in all fields. Mauritius wants to develop new sectors such as petroleum, ocean economy, the green economy and promote sustainable development, it needs high level engineers and scientists. I am glad that this MOU is being signed to help the Rajiv Gandhi Science centre and my ministry to organize activities jointly with Mauritius Post Ltd to promote better knowledge of the importance of science and technology. The MOU also provides for my Ministry to assist Mauritius Post Ltd for the provision of training courses to its staff through the publicly funded tertiary education institutions. I appreciate the commitment of Mauritius Post Ltd to provide further training and upskilling to its staff.I wish to thank the Mauritius Post Ltd once again and look forward to a fruitful partnership.
