I was at a workshop on Biosafety Risk Communication organised by the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biosafety in collaboration with the University of Mauritius, held at the Gold Crest Hotel. The workshop aims at enhancing the skills of local and international participants in communicating more effectively and authoritatively on issues surrounding products derived from modern biotechnology to a wide range of stakeholders. The challenge to the organizers now is to ensure that the outcome of this training provides a clear direction in performing good risk communication in this potentially beneficial technology. I wish them a productive engagement and a good stay!
