‘Mobile Apps 2012 – Harnessing the Mauritian Ecosystem’
It was indeed a pleasure to be at the launching of the Mobile Apps. 2012 Workshop, today at the Cyber Tower Conference Hall, Ebéne. The combine of digitization, smart phone penetration and mobile apps has profoundly changed the way people go about their everyday lives. It has unquestionably impacted just about every sector of the economy. We find mobile services and applications everywhere nowadays, and this is a technology which is driving the economy and changing all sectors of society including the higher education sector. As Minister of Tertiary Education, Science, Research and Technology, I have witnessed during the past years how the world of education has been changing. I would like to congratulate the University of Technology, Mauritius for this initiative which reflects the willingness of the university to modernise and innovate and engage deeply in research and development. I appreciate the grant offered by the ICT Authority for this event and I am sure that the outcome of this 3 days’ workshop will be beneficial to the country.
