I met with Prof Shuguang Zhang from Massachusetts Institute of Technology during his visit to Mauritius in September 2010. Prof Shuguang Zhang received his B.S. from Sichuan University, China and Ph.D. in biochemistry & molecular biology from University of California at Santa Barbara, USA. He was an American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellow and later a Whitaker Foundation Investigator at MIT.

- Dr Jeetah was elected Member of the National Assembly in December 2003 for the first time for Constituency No.7 (Piton/Rivière du Rempart), and remained so until April 2005. Dr Jeetah was re-elected as: • Member of the National Assembly for Constituency No.11 (Vieux Grand Port-Rose Belle), in 2005 and became Minister of Industry, Small and Medium Enterprises, Commerce & Cooperatives (2005 to 2008).He became Minister of Health & Quality of Life (2008 to 2010). • Member of the National Assembly for Constituency No.10 (Montagne Blanche- GRSE)in 2010 and became Minister of Tertiary Education, Science, Research and Technology till 2014. I was at the ‘Microsoft Leadership Lecture Series’ Conference on ‘Good Governance and the potential role it can play in the development of a prosperous Africa’ in presence of the Dr. C. Diarra, Chairman for Microsoft’s African Operation and the Former President of the Republic of Mozambique, His Excellency H.E Joaquim Chissano, held at the Paul Octave Wiehe Auditorium, Réduit.

I met with Mr. M. Frédéric Cadet, ‘Vice Président de la Région Réunion, Relations International, Recherche et Innovation’ from Reunion Island in my office at 4th floor, Cyber Tower 1, Ebène. The purpose of the visit was to discuss areas of cooperation between Mauritius and Reunion Island in the field of Technology and Innovation.
