It was a pleasure to proceed to the opening of the African Network for Drugs and Diagnostics Innovation (ANDI) Centre of Excellence for Biomedical and Biomaterials Research .The creation of the Centre for Biomedical and Biomaterials Research at the University of Mauritius and its designation as Centre of Excellence by the African Network for Drugs and Diagnostics Innovation (ANDI) is indeed very timely. The Centre of Excellence for Biomedical and Biomaterials Research (CBBR) will focus on research at the interface between materials/polymer science and biosciences with emerging fields such as nanotechnology and Nano medicine. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the University of Mauritius and the Cyclotron Réunion Océan Indien (CYROI) and I personally recommend this type of initiative as we need regional collaboration if we are to succeed. I wish them plenty of success in their endeavour !
