Dr Jeetah was elected Member of the National Assembly in December 2003 for the first time for Constituency No.7 (Piton/Rivière du Rempart), and remained so until April 2005. Dr Jeetah was re-elected as: • Member of the National Assembly for Constituency No.11 (Vieux Grand Port-Rose Belle), in 2005 and became Minister of Industry, Small and Medium Enterprises, Commerce & Cooperatives (2005 to 2008).He became Minister of Health & Quality of Life (2008 to 2010). • Member of the National Assembly for Constituency No.10 (Montagne Blanche- GRSE)in 2010 and became Minister of Tertiary Education, Science, Research and Technology till 2014. Workshop on ‘Bhojpuri songs – An insight’ at the MGI Lecture Theatre, Moka






Dr the Hon. R. Jeetah Minister of Tertiary Education, Science, Research and Technology attended a workshop on ‘Bhojpuri songs – An insight ‘(Bhojpuri Geet - Dasha awroo Dishaa) at the MGI Lecture Theatre organised by the Mahatma Gandhi Institute. The aim of the workshop was to promote education and culture, the MGI believes in providing platforms to stakeholders for raising and discussing issues relevant to its commitment to nation-building.

‘Meeting with stakeholders of the Tertiary Education Sector’

Dr the Hon. R. Jeetah Minister of Tertiary Education, Science, Research and Technology chaired a meeting with stakeholders of the Tertiary Education sector in collaboration with Tertiary Education Commission, the Board of Investment and Enterprise Mauritius at Clos St Louis, Domaine Les Pailles.

The objectives of the Government are to:

• Make Mauritius the intelligent island of the region and a Centre of Excellence in the global village.

• Achieve the development of a skilled, versatile and competent workforce and in doing so; it will strive to reach an objective of one graduate per family.

• Attain a Gross Tertiary Enrolment Rate of 70% by 2015;

• Attract 100,000 students from overseas by the year 2020; and

• Inculcate a culture of quality education and research in Mauritius.
