‘PRIZE GIVING CEREMONY - AT SEBASTOPOL SSS’

I was very happy to be present among them on the auspicious occasion when Sebastopol SSS is celebrating its Annual Prize Giving Day. This is a special moment in the life of their school and undoubtedly constitutes a landmark. Let me congratulate the prize winners for their efforts, the parents and the College Staff who have made a combined effort towards your success. My Ministry is also working on projects to set up regional University campuses in various regions, such as at Montagne Blanche, in order to provide more access to Tertiary Education to all regions of the country, and I would like to see many of them moving on to Tertiary Education at diploma or degree levels and, why not, becoming distinguished PhDs one day. I congratulate the parents for making their children work hard in achieving success. I thank the school management team, the Rector, the teaching and non teaching staff, the Parent Teachers Association and the community at large for the organization of this function. Rewarding achievement is a great motivation for it inspires one towards more effort, but it also suggests prospects for more improvement.

‘Social Media Workshop’

I thank the United States Embassy for inviting me to the opening ceremony of the workshop entitled “Scoop, Source and Social Media”. I believe it is the first time we are having such an event in Mauritius and I commend the U.S. Embassy for this initiative. I thank them in organizing the workshop and providing this opportunity to the journalists, communication officers and students. I wish them an informative, productive and pleasant day!
