‘INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL CONFERENCE ON EMERGING ISSUES IN PRIMARY HEALTH CARE ‘

I wish to thank Imperial College, WeLReN (West London Research Network) for organizing this International Conference on emerging issues in Primary Health Care in Mauritius.  This conference is expected to encourage reflection on a primary care strategy and how to achieve a comprehensive public health system. This is a theme of critical importance, given the present context of ageing population, increasing demand for health care and the high rate of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases among others. I expect that this conference will highlight some of the  most important areas related to primary health care and open the way for more research and innovation in the field of health care and delivery services. I extend a warm welcome and a pleasant stay in Mauritius to all professors and researchers who are attending this Conference.
