‘Opening ceremony of Universiade 2011’

I launched the ‘Universiade 2011’ (An inter Tertiary Education Institutions Sports Competition Meet) today at the gymnasium of the University of Mauritius, Reduit. I am glad to say that 17 tertiary institutions are participating in the first UNIVERSIADE and we received about 1500 entries for the different sports disciplines. I am convinced that our students will have positive experiences through their participation in UNIVERSIADE 2011 which contribute towards building a ‘Sporting Mauritius’. I would like to thank the sponsors namely the Standard Chartered Bank (the main sponsor), SICOM and the ABC Group of companies for their participation in the 1st Universiade. I congratulate the organisers and members of the organising team who have done a great job in putting together the program. I wish all participants good luck !
