I met with Professor Jiri Dvorak, Chairman of the FIFA Medical Assessment Research Centre and his Technical Team accompanied by Mr. D. Persunnoo, President of the Mauritius Football Association.

‘Launching of the Lifelong Learning for Women’s Empowerment’

I was at the launching of the lifelong Learning for women’s Empowerment, held at The Link, Hotel, Ebène. I warmly welcome the initiative by my colleague the Hon Minister of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare in collaboration with all the stakeholders, specially  the VCILT (Virtual Centre for Innovative Learning Technologies) of the University of Mauritius, who have dedicated much effort towards this project which aims at  increasing importance of lifelong learning in entrepreneurship for economic Development and using technology as a driver for learning and knowledge dissemination, at a time where everyone is a user of a mobile phone and internet is becoming more widespread. In implementing our vision for women’s development, we must seek the collaboration of local, regional and international partners.  We must encourage all sectors of society to work together to achieve the development of our society in an inclusive manner. I am fully confident that my Ministry and the efforts of the Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare will be working in parallel to support the agenda. I thank again the Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare and the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) for their support in driving Life Long Learning in Mauritius.

‘Convocation Ceremony’

 

I was at the 9^th Convocation ceremony of the University of Technology (UTM), held at the Paul Octave Wiehe Auditorium, Réduit. I thank the University for having given me, the opportunity to address the Graduands, their families, their well wishers and the valued guests who have spared some of their precious time to grace the ceremony on the special occasion. Some words for the graduands..............the future belong to you, graduands! The Certificate you will receive today is just a license for the journey you are about to take.  And, this journey starts from today. Life will bring its own surprises, its own ups and downs, successes and failures, happiness and frustrations. Remember that the success of man is not judged just by the heights one reaches in life, but by the number of times one can rise after falling. On this great day in your life, I can only wish you all the best.

‘Regional Focal Points Meeting for Africa & the Mediterranean’

 

 

 

 

 

I launched the ‘Regional Focal Points Meeting for Africa & the Mediterranean’, in presence of Sir John Daniel, President and CEO of the Commonwealth of learning and other eminent personalities at The Link Hotel, Ebène. The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) is an intergovernmental organisation created by Commonwealth Heads of Government to encourage the development and sharing of open learning and distance education knowledge, resources and technologies.

‘Courtesy Call’

 

I met with Mr. Guido Di Paolo, Sales Director of ATR, France and Mr. Jacques Gentil, Executive Vice President-Technical Services of Air Mauritius. Discussions were centered on the possibility of setting up an aeronautical school in Mauritius.
