I have to
congratulate the organizers of this workshop mounted as a collaborative
activity between the Apollo Bramwell Hospital, the International Association of
Medical and Biochemical Researchers and the Society for free Radical
Research-Africa the National Research Chairs of the Mauritius Research Council
and the Centre for Biochemical and Biomaterials Research. I thank Apollo
Bramwell for bringing together local researches, academics and medical
professionals. Thanks for the presence of International researchers from the
American Diabetes Association – Dr. Joseph Indelicato, Dr. Karl-Heinz Wagner
from the University of Vienna, Austria, Dr. Okezie.l.Aruoma PhD and Dr.
Emmanuel Bourdon PhD. Like other health issues, diabetes is a national concern.
It is comforting that there is a collaborative effort of the private sector,
public institutions and researches to explore all the aspects of this health
concern. I wish that this collaborative initiative leads to a sustained
research agenda by all the stakeholders.
