I express my gratitude to the Manchester Institute
of Innovation Research for extending their expert assistance in this important
and challenging exercise. This is
another exercise which my Ministry has entrusted to the Mauritius Research
Council in order to map out a medium to long term research and innovation
strategy for Mauritius within the existing capabilities to meet current and
future challenges. The main aim of the National Research Foresight
Exercise (NRFE) is to map out a medium longer term research and innovation
strategy for Mauritius. This involves links between different scientific
disciplines, between research producers and users, and between the public,
private and civil society sectors. I wish the participants fruitful
discussions.
