‘Induction Session for Law Practitioners Vocational Course’

I wish to congratulate the first batch of students of the Centre for Professional and Legal Studies for having enrolled on the course for law practitioners at the Faculty of Law and Management of the University of Mauritius. This course follows the amendments to the Law Practitioners Act 2001 and is based on an arrangement between the University of Mauritius and the Council for Vocational and Legal Education, which will be responsible for the examinations.  It should maintain high standards and quality of teaching, as it is benefitting from the advice and guidance of consultants from the Nottingham Law School and Université de Limoges.  I wish the students good luck in their studies and wish to assure them that we will ensure that the teaching and lecturing methods are of a high standard and that all the necessary facilities are provided to them to optimize their learning experience. I wish to put on record my appreciation for the support from the Hon. Attorney General, the University of Mauritius and the judiciary so that the University of Mauritius and all the people who have helped to make this project become a reality .

NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK

I thank all those for joining us for the launching of the first National Science Week. This First National Science Week for year 2013 is being organized jointly by the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre and the Mauritius Research Council. Government has allocated a special budget for this activity which we will organize in all the districts of Mauritius and in Rodrigues. I have to thank all the ministries, the departments and the private sector organisations which are participating in this event. An important aspect of the Science Week is to show the practical importance of Science and Technology in various sectors of the Mauritian economy. We have a common commitment, and it is to ensure a better, healthier and wealthier future for our children and their children. To that end, there can be no compromise; and I can assure you that, as a Government, we shall continue to do our utmost best to achieve the objectives.
