I would like to thank the Indian High Commission and the Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture for supporting today’s activity “Science Through Colours”.Today’s programme has been mounted with the main aim of creating scientific awareness through drawing/painting to encourage our students to explore scientific theme through creative thinking and to enhance the learning of scientific concepts through science demonstrations. Art/drawing helps children express, communicate and create order. We generally lack the breadth of vocabulary necessary to articulate all of the complexity of our thoughts and emotions succinctly. Drawing trains the mind as well as the eye. It is as great an aid to the reasoning powers as is logic and mathematics. I am pleased that secondary school students are participating in this project together with children with special needs from CEDEM. I wish all our children plenty of success and hope that this project will increase their understanding of the importance of science in their everyday life.
