‘TRAINING COURSE ON RESEARCH METHODOLOGY & POST-GRADUATE AWARD’
I congratulate all those who have participated in the course on Research
Methodology organized by the Mauritius Research Council in collaboration with the
University of Mauritius and University of Technology, Mauritius and the HRDC.
Research is vital to our
everyday decision making. Whenever we take decisions and make policies,
we need all the information to enable us to take the right decisions. In a
world of competition, research is increasingly useful and indispensable. It
helps people to explore new models, to innovate, to test new ideas and to
become more creative. It is through research that some young people have
developed facebook, google and other inventions. We want to give a new direction and more impetus to research and
innovation. We are reviewing the
Mauritius Research Council legislation with a view to rationalise research in
Mauritius and broaden the scope of the Council. I have requested the Council to
increase the outreach activities in secondary schools to inform students of the
importance of research and development and to get them involved in research
projects at an early stage.I am pleased to note
that so many candidates from different sectors have participated in this research
methodology course and have the capacity to undertake research. I would like to
congratulate all of them and thank the MRC for organizing this course.
