‘Opening Ceremony of the UoM-WCP International Conference on International Trade and Investment’

I was at the Opening Ceremony of the International Conference on International Trade and Investment held at Le Meridien today. I congratulate the University of Mauritius for the award of the WTO Chairs Programme and for the organisation of the Conference. The University’s endeavour to promote research in International Trade, a field that is of significant importance for growth, development and poverty reduction, is indeed commendable.   I appreciate that the Conference brings together scholars from around the world to discuss and share their research on a number of pertinent issues linked to International Trade and Investment, especially in the context of developing countries.I thank all the participants for their continued effort to contribute to knowledge on the various sub-disciplines in the area of International Trade and for disseminating their research during this Conference. I wish them all very fruitful deliberations.
